Émilie Bitauld's nudes are fascinating in that they break the codes of this often too academic exercise, the representation of the naked body. Doubtless because, when she draws, the artist's eye never leaves her model. Never do her eyes glance at the paper. The hand acts as the medium, translating how what she sees feels. To observe her drawing is therefore an experience. Some lines are more than enough for her to give life to a body in tension which is reminiscent of the nudes of Egon Schiele. But contrary to Schiele, Emilie Bitauld knows how to show the life of a body deprived of the subtleties of clothing.
